Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of health education on glucose control for diabetes patients in community. Methods One hundred and ten patients with type 2 diabetes in Dapuqiao community were randomly selected.Maintaining the original drug treatment, patients received diabetes health education.Fasting plasma glucose,2 hours postprandial blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, lipids and blood pressure were determined before health education and after 3 months. Results After health education, the glycosylated hemoglobin, fasting plasma glucose and 2 hours postprandial blood glucose were decreased significantly(P0.05).Lipid and blood pressure levels were improved as well. Conclusion Health education is beneficial to the glucose control, improvement of lipids and blood pressure, and prevention from complications for patients with diabetes in community.
