Abstract
Objective:To study the effect of puerarin on peripheral nerve ischemia reperfusion injury. Methods:Models of unilateral sciatic nerve ischemia injury were produced in 100 rabbits by method of common iliac artery occlusion. They were randomly divided into 5 groups:control group, ischemia group, reperfusion group, puerarin treated groupⅠand puerarin treated group Ⅱ.The changes in the parameters of sciatic nerve, such as nerve conductive velocity, action potential amptitude, latent time and pathological change were observed. Results:With the prolongation of the duration of ischemia and reperfusion, the nerve conductive velocity was slown down, the action potential amptitude decreased and the latent time prolonged in the ischemia group and reperfusion group(P0.05).The pathological changes were aggravated. As compared with ischemia group by puerarin treated group I or with reperfusion group by puerarin treated II,the nerve conductive velocity was speeded up,,the action potential amptitude elevated,,the latent timeshortened. The pathological changes were alleviated. Conclusion:Puerarin has protective effects against ischemia and reperfusion injury of peripheral nerve.
