Abstract

NaCl stress and iso-osmotic PEG treatment all caused the increase of free proline and soluble sugar in buckwheat seedlings with different salt-tolerance,and that of the increase under NaCl stress was obviously more than that under iso-osmotic PEG treatment. It indicated that ion effect played the main role in it.Free proline and soluble sugar content of roots and leaves in salt-tolerant Chuanqiao No.1 increased less and had a low variety rate.Salt-tolerance of buckwheat showed negative correlation with osmoticum accumulation.Abundant osmoticum accumulation in salt-sensitive TQ-0808 might be caused by metabolism disorder under high concentration salt stress and should be a representation of salt damage.
