Abstract

Objective To detect the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (ki-67) in endometriosis (EMS),and to discuss the pathogenesis of endometriosis. Methods Immunohistochemical SP stain methods was used to examine the expression of ki-67 in the eutopic and ectopic endometrium in 58 cases of endometriosis (EMS group),which include 36 cases of ovary endometriosis and 22 cases of adenomyosis of uterus,as well as endometrium of 15 cases of hysteromyoma (control group).Proliferation index (PI) was counted. Results Ki-67 expression of EMS eutopic endometrium in secretory phase was lower than that in proliferative phase.Ki-67 expression in EMS ectopic endometrium glandular epithelium was higher than that of eutopic endometrium both of them in secretory phase and proliferative phase. The difference is significant (P0.05).PI of ectopic endometrium glandular epithelium in Ⅰ~Ⅱ stage was higher than that in Ⅲ,Ⅳ stage (P0.05).Conclusion The proliferative index of ki-67 reflect the proliferation activity of endometrium cell. The continuous high proliferative activity of the endometrium may play an important role on the development of endometriosis.activity
