Cost-effectiveness analysis of domestic and import somatostatin in the treatment of acute pancreatitis

Objective To evaluate the cost-effectiveness ratio of domestic somatostatin and import somatostatin for acute pancreatitis.Methods Two therapeutic regimens for acute pancreatitis were compared by a cost-effectiveness analysis.These regimens were composed of domestic somatostatin+basal therapy(group A);import somatostatin+basal therapy(group B).Results The effective rates of the domestic somatostatin and the import somatostatin after completion of the treatment course were similar(85.71% vs 89.47%,P 0.05);the time of abdominal pain alleviation and recovery time of serum amylase,white blood cell were not obviously different;the cost of group A was significantly lower than group B(P 0.05),the cost-effectiveness ratios were 1 066.16 and 2 901.98 respectively.There were no significant differences between the two groups in terms of adverse reactions.Conclusion Domestic somatostatin is cheaper yet with higher cost-effective ratio as compared with the import somatostatin.
