Abstract
Under a cycle test conditions between normal and vacuum, the rotational speed, torque and load characteristics of a disc type traveling wave ultrasonic motor(TWUSM) were tested. The environment pressures of low-vacuum and high-vacuum chosed were 2Pa and 5×10-3Pa respectively. It showed that rotation speed and torque of TWUSM both decreased when environment pressure decreased. The higher the load imposed on TWUSM,the larger the decrease of rotation speed.Load characteristics became worse with decrease of environment pressure. The principle of ultrasonic motor and tribology were applied to analyze the reason that stall torque of TWUSM in vacuum was smaller than that in normal condition.
