Several Factors Influencing Properties of a Traveling Ultrasonic Motor in Vacuum and Low Temperature Environment

Abstract

Load characteristics and rotational speed stabilities of a disc-type traveling wave ultrasonic motor(TWUSM) are tested in a vacuum and low temperature environment.The conception of total output power is introduced to analyze driving characteristics of TWUSM under the harsh condition.According to the construction of TWUSM,several key factors such as agglutinant,friction materials,piezoelectric ceramics,etc.effecting TWUSM manufacture are discussed,That is to give directions for design of TWUSM used in anomalous conditions.As a result,though low temperature makes property of piezoelectric ceramic go down,TWUSM can run in low-vacuum and low temperature of-80℃ when a low temperature agglutinant is used.The Ekonol-based composite suffers less influence from temperature,so it is fit for low temperature condition.
