Abstract
Being the important information system,Geographic Information System(GIS) was extensively applied in native urban earthquake prevention and disaster mitigation. In this paper, the application of GIS in most aspects was reviewed such as the compile of parametric zonation map of earthquake ground motion, seismic risk analysis and earthquake loss estimation, earthquake disaster prediction for engineering structures(including lifeline engineering, road transportation system, building structures and secondary disaster),and the assistant decision-making and emergency commanding system. The development trend and potential questions for GIS was discussed as well.
