Therapeutic efficacy observation on Chuanwutongluo recipe in treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy:80 cases report

Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of Chuanwutongluo recipe in treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN).Methods 160 cases of diabetic peripheral neuropathy with deficiency of Qi(Yang)and blood stasis syndrome were randomly divided into treatment group and control group with 80 cases in each group.Two groups were treated with conventional diabetes therapy,and disable drugs with any improvement in blood circulation and influence in nerve conduction. The treatment group was given a dose of daily Chuanwutongluo recipe decocted in water.The control group was givenα-lipoic acid 600 mg QD.Both groups were treated for 3 weeks.The clinical manifestations of scoring method were used as the observation records of patients' clinical efficacy of objective index.Patients of both groups were observed common peroneal nerve and ulnar nerve conduction velocity(MCV,SCV)recorded by limb electromyography before and after the treatment,and recorded the efficacy and adverse reaction.Results The total effective rate of treatment group(87.5%)was significantly higher than that in control group(75.0%,P 0.05);the nerve conduction velocity of treatment group was significantly increased (P 0.05,P 0.01).The two groups were no obvious adverse reaction.Conclusion Chuanwutongluo recipe can significantly improve the therapeutic effect on peripheral neuropathy of diabetes.
