International Research Trends in the Management of Heritage Tourism Resources

This article summarizes international research trends in the management of heritage tourism resources,discusses the features of international heritage tourism resource management, and provides domestic heritage tourism resources management studies with practical suggestions. International studies on this subject reflect an interdisciplinary and multi-angle trend,and many are centered on the application of new technology and case studies. Apart from traditional research areas such as the protection and tourism development of heritage sites and management stakeholders,many researchers have also explored new technologies and methods of heritage management,the impacts of climate change and pollution,and the difficulty of localizing global standards. From our review it is clear that,in terms of resource types,the major fields of study include architectural heritage,protected areas,cultural tourism attractions,and marine areas. Traditional heritage tourism development,heritage authenticity,heritage tourism,visitor experience,and community involvement in heritage protection are still dominate research areas. Authenticity,integrity and heritage sustainable development remain major research areas.
