Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of glutamine on liver function of hepatic cirrhosis patients.MethodsForty patients with hepatic cirrhosis were randomly allocated into two groups:experimental group and control group. The patients in experiment group received oral administration of glutamine based on conventional treatment, while the patients in control group received conventional treatment. The levels of glutathione(GSH),alanine aminotransferase(ALT),total bilirubin(TBIL)and albumin in serum were measured after treatment for six weeks. The data were compared before and after treatment.ResultsAfter treatment,GSH levels in two groups increased significantly(P0.05),while ALT level decreased(P0.05).The scope of GSH in experimental group was significantly higher than that in control group(P0.05).ConclusionOral administration of glutamine granules can protect liver function in hepatic cirrhosis patients.
