Abstract
Objective:To study the mechanism of MEAW technique in skeletal class Ⅲ treatment and to explore a non-operative treatment method on skeletal class Ⅲ malocclusion.Method:Ten skeletal class Ⅲ patients (4 male,6 female)with permenent dentision are included, whose average age is 16.5 (range from 13 to 22).Anterior cross bite was resolved and class Ⅰ molar and canine relationship were establish with MEAW technique in all the patients.Cephlemetics were taken and studied before and after treatment. Result:Labial tipping of upper anterior teeth, mesial movement of upper posterior teeth, lingual compromised tipping of lower anterior teeth and distal tippting of lower posterior teeth were observed with little skeletal chang. And occlusual plane became flat. Conclusion:MEAW technique is an effective method in skeletal class Ⅲ treatment which can be carried out at various medical institutions.
