Development of a New Seedless Watermelon Cultivar, Bingqilin

A new seedless watermelon cultivar named Bingqilin (454-S×HY1) is developed by Hunan research institute of Cucurbitaceae. It is a mid-small seedless watermelon cultivar with high yield and quality. It is resistant to diseases and wetness. It has yellow pulp which tasted like ice-cream. It sets fruit easily and produces fruit with average weight of 3.5 -5 kg. The total growing period is about 92 days and fruit matures about 33 days from pollination. The yield is 3 000-3 500 kg per 667 m2, and the refraction sugar content in center of the fruit is 12%.
