The Treatment of Combination Olsalazine with Smectite Retention Enema on Ulcerative Colitis

Objective:To compare the therapeutic effect difference on ulcerative colitis of retention enema combination olsalazine with smectite or not.Method:A total of 74 patients with active ulcerative colitis in left side were divided into combination retention enema group and placebo group,2.0g olsalazine were used in two groups,otherwise,1.0g smectite was mixed with clyster in combination retention enema group.Stool,blood biochemistry,the sign and symptom of ulcerative colitis were recorded every 2 weeks.The results of coloscopy and pathohistology were recorded every 4 weeks.Result:After 8 weeks therapy,there were 30 cases(81.1%) in combination group and 22 cases(59.5%) in placebo group showed excellent effect,no cases showed ineffective in two groups.Conclusion:To treat the left active ulcerative colitis,combination olsalazine with smectite retention enema is more effective than which without smectite.Olsalazine retention enema enhances compliance of the patients.
