On shrimp beam trawl resources in the East China Sea

Shrimp is one of the main targeted fishing species in the East China Sea. The shrimp beam trawl is a fishing method widely used in the East China Sea for shrimp fishing. At the beginning,the shrimp beam trawl played a positive role in adjusting the fishery structure and reducing the fishing pressure on economic species. But as the fishing scale expanded and rapid development of fishing vessels and gears,the problem of major economic shrimp species and by-catch juveniles being caught became more serious,thus destroyed the fishery resources in the East China Sea. The paper mainly introduced the development of shrimp beam trawl in the East China Sea,and the species,distribution of major economic shrimp species,as well as the catches and number changes of fishing vessels in the area,analyzed the existing problems in the shrimp beam trawl fishery and put forward countermeasures.
