Abstract
This paper compares several protocols of IP Over ATM,and points out that Multi Protocol Label Switching(MPLS) as a new kind of network layer packet forwarding technology is a better solution. Starting an analysis to MPLS system principles, this paper puts forward advantages of MPLS and discusses relevant key mechanisms, and finally gives an analysis on how to implement VPN using MPLS technology.
