Abstract
The SOD/LPO ratio has been used as a new marker to reflect the relationship between preoxidation and antioxidation. The chages of SOD/LPO ratio have been investigated in healthy persons and patients. The results showed the levels of human RBC LPO increased with age, and the SOD activities decreased, the SOD/LPO ratio greatly decresed with age,In contract to the control group, the LPO levels were much higher in coronary heart diseases patients and diabetes patients, while the SOD activities much lower. Especially,SOD/LPO drops markably, and much markably than those of the control group in cancer patients. This suggests that free radical may be an important factors in those diseases.
