Abstract
In the development of Chinese New Poetry,poets have neglected the heritage of traditional metrical poetry consciously or unconsciously,which have impacts on artistic quality of Chinese New Poetry.New Poetry has some linguistic and formal defects,for poets enjoy too much freedom of using too much prose and vernacular expressions.The solution should be to inherit and develop the traditional Chinese meters.
