On Zhu Xiang's Exploration and Contribution to the Art of Chinese New Poetry

Zhu Xiang,born in Taihu,Anhui Province,is one of the most important poets in 1920s and 1930s.With his sober mind and strong artistic sense of mission,he has done a lot of exploration and practice in terms of vindicating the aesthetic features of poetry and creating artistic forms of new poetry.When creating poems,he,on the one hand,adopts the reasonable artistic forms of classical poetry so as to create new metrical poetry with perfect forms,on the other hand,avers that styles of foreign poetry should be used for reference so as to diversify Chinese new poetry verse styles.Meanwhile,he strongly advocates modern narrative poetry,and even takes the lead in practice.Zhu Xiang has made great breakthroughs in absorbing and altering traditional themes,portraying character's personality,exploring modern narrative poetry forms and so on.He has made an outstanding contribution to the artistic forms of new poetry as well as its healthy development.
