Abstract
Objective To study the expression of VEGF mRNA during early period in diabetic rats with focal cerebral ischemia. Methods A middle cerebral artery occlusion(MACO) model was reproduced with SD rats. The expression of VEGF mRNA in the penumbral area of the diabetes and control group was measured with reverse(transcriptase-polymerase) chain reaction(RT-PCR) in different times after MACO(1,3,6,12,24h).The difference was studied in comparison between the diabetes group and control group. Results The expression of VEGF mRNA was lower in diabetes group than control group at every time point. The difference was significant in the super-early(period.) Conclusion The expression of VEGF mRNA in diabetes rats with focal cerebral ischemia was insufficient during early period.Insufficiency was prominent in the super-early period.
