Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect and safety of atorvastatin combined with cilostazol in treatment of type 2 diabetic patients with carotid atherosclerosis. Methods 162 cases of type 2 diabetic patients with carotid atherosclerosis were randomly divided into the treatment and control groups. Two groups were treated by diet, exercise, regulation of blood glucose and so on. Meantime, all patients received atorvastatin treatment. The treatment group was added cilostazol and the control group was added aspirin for12 months of follow-up. Carotid intima-media thickness( IMT),plaque area and blood lipid were detected before and after treatment. Results After treatment,IMT and plaque area in the treatment group were significantly less than that in the control group( P 0. 05). TG was significantly decreased, but HLDL-C increased,in the treatment group( P 0. 05). The patients in two groups did not show serious adverse reactions. Conclusion Atorvastatin combined with cilostazol is safe and efficient in treatment of type 2diabetic patients with carotid atherosclerosis.
