Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of epidermal growth factor(EGF)and epidermal growth factor-receptor(EGF-R)and its significance in colorectal cancer. Methods The expression of EGF and EGF-Rwas detected by SP immunohistochemical method in 10 cases of normal colorectal membrane and 64 cases of colorectal cancer. Results The expression of EGF and EGF-R were both negative in normal colorectal membrane, but were 51% and 66%,respectively,in colorectal cancer, showing a significant difference between the two groups. There was a positive correlation between the expression of EGF and EGF-R in colorectal cancer. Conclusion The EGF and EGF-R play an important role in the carcinogenesis and development of colorectal cancer.
