Abstract
Objective: To investigate the diagnosis significance of single umbilical artery in prenatal ultrasound of fetal malformations and fetal growth restriction. Methods: The clinical data of 36 cases with single umbilical artery of 7890 for routine prenatal ultrasound were retrospectively analysed in the hospital from September 2008 to June 2012 and so was the 36 patients with single umbilical artery combined with fetal congenital structural abnormality and growth restriction. Results: Of 36 patients with single umbilical artery, there were 11 cases of malformation of the merged structure, growth restriction of 3 cases and there were 22 cases of simple single umbilical artery with no deformity follow-up after birth. Conclusion: The risk of suffering from single umbilical artery merger fetal malformations and growth restriction is significantly higher than the normal umbilical artery of the fetus. As a result, once a single umbilical artery fetal prenatal is checked,to reduce birth defects,it is essential that all parts of the system should be examined.
