Abstract
[Objective] The purpose was to study the effects of 4 transplanting media on the survival rate and growth of test tube plantlet of Dendrobium nobile.[Method] With moss,sawdust,barks and humus soil as transplanting media,the survival rate,plant height,stem diameter,root number,root length and dry weight of transplanted test tube plantlets were observed and measured and their differences were compared.[Result] After 30 d from transplanting,the survival rate of test tube plantlet growing in sawdust was up to 94.7%,that of test tube plantlet growing in moss and barks was higher than 90% and that of test tube plantlet growing in humus soil was 77.7%;its plant height was increased by 0.250 cm in sawdust and by 0.080 cm in humus soil and its stem diameter was increased by 0.086 cm in moss.After 60 d from transplanting,the plant height of test tube plantlet was increased by 0.370 cm in sawdust;its stem diameter was increased by 0.210 cm in humus soil,by 0.132 cm in moss,by 0.086 cm in sawdust and by 0.047 cm in barks;its average root number per plant was 5.1 in moss and 2.7 in humus soil;its root lengths were 4.6,4.2,3.7 and 3.5 cm resp.in sawdust,barks,moss and humus soil;its dry weight of whole plant was up to 16.33 mg in sawdust and was 10.60 mg in barks.[Conclusion] Sawdust was the optimum transplanting medium for the production of D.nobile seedlings.
