Abstract
A malleable iron was produced under the condition of rational design of chemical compositions of molten iron and inoculant, and its graphitizing annealing process was optimized.Subsequently, the malleable iron was metallogically and SEM examined. The results show that the cast iron produced by molten iron containing 2.2%C,2.4%Si and inoculated and subsequently graphitized by heating at 900 ℃ for 6 h and 720 ℃ for 12 h will become a malleable iron with good form of graphite. The above graphitizing period has been appreciably shortened relative to the conventional graphitizing period.
