Expression and clinical significance of PTEN,Smac and LIVIN in gastric cancer

Abstract
Objective To study the expression of PTEN,Smac and LIVIN in human gastric cancer and to evaluate their clinical significance.Methods The expression of PTEN,Smac and LIVIN was detected by immunohistochemical method in the tissues of 75 primary gastric carcinomas and 15 gastric ulcers.Results The positive expression rate of LIVIN in gastric carcinoma tissues was significantly higher than that in normal tissues,and the expression rate of PTEN and Smac was obviously lower than that in normal tissues(P0.01).The expression of LIVIN was negatively correlated with the expression of Smac and PTEN respectively(P0.01).There was a positive correlation between the expression of PTEN and Smac.The expression of PTEN,Smac and LIVIN were closely correlated with lymph node metastasis,clinical stage,histological differentiation grade and tumor depth of gastric cancer.Conclusion PTEN,LIVIN and Smac may be considered as reliable markers in clinical diagnosis and the prognosis of gastric carcinoma.
