Abstract

The scientific spirit and humanistic spirit, as the quintessence of human recognition, have exerted profound influence on library, which has a long history of humanistic tradition and spirit. The wide use of modern science and technology in library has greatly stimulated the scientific spirit of the library. But the unbalance and separation of the two kinds of spirit has gone against the real purpose of the library. So it is necessary for a new century library to blend the two kinds of spirit.
