Education Standard for American Physical Education Teachers: Structure,Features and Inspiration

By the methods of literature review and comparative approach,this paper analyzed American2008 National Initial Physical Education Teacher Education Standardsfrom aspects of enactment background,structure and traits. This study gets rid of deficiencies of focusing on standards content in the past studies and hopes to provide a reference for enacting China physical education teacher education standards. Conclusions: American 2008standardsis standard-based and is constructed on constructivism learning theory with the feature of behaviorism. Thisstandardsis guided by education theory,mainlined by forming teaching ability,designed by skill,ethics,training,development and constitution. And it incorporates knowledge,skill,capacity and quality of physical education teachers effectively. This study suggests that China should establish the idea of physical education teachers' professional development,confirm the dimension of physical education teachers' education standard,and draw up China physical education teachers' education standard which will be suited to our country's actual conditions as soon as possible.
