Clinical observation on autografting of corneal limbus stem cells for pterygium surgery.

Abstract

Objective To observe the effect of corneal limbus autografting on pterygium.Mehtods 95 cases(105 eyes) of pterygium were treated randomly with corneal limbus autografting(group Ⅰ) or conjunctival epithelium grafting(group Ⅱ).Patients were followed up for 6 to 12 months.Results The post-operative relapse rate of group Ⅰ is 1.85%, group Ⅱ is 17.65%.Statistically the relapse rate of group Ⅰ is lower than that of group Ⅱ( P 0.05).Conclusions Corneal limbus autografting is a safe,effective and lower relapse rate method to treat pterygium.
