Abstract
A comparison of the capacity of dried and fresh water hyacinth stems to treat phenol-containing wastewater was made and the amount of water hyacinth stems required and effect of treating phenol-containing wastewater with repeatedly recycled water hyacinth stems were explored.The results showed dried water hyacinth stems were better than fresh water hyacinth stems;0.5 g dried water hyacinth stems had the optimal effect for treating 300 mL wastewater containing phenol with a concentration of 42.2 mg/L and the removal rate reached 98.6%;the water hyacinth stems that had adsorbed phenol could be reused,but the effect gradually weakened.
