Analysis of treatment efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy for postpartum depression.

Abstract

Objective To explore the efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT) on improving the dysfunctional cognition and depression of the patients with postpartum depression.Methods Cognitive behavioral therapy were used in treated 48 cases of postpartum depression patients in study group for 8 weeks,general therapy only in treated 45 cases in control group.DAS and HAMD were used in evaluated the efficacy of two groups.Results The total score,scores of factors D1,D3,D6,D7 of DAS in study group were significantly lower than which in control group after treatment.The total score,scores of factors D1,D3,D6,D7 of DAS in study group were significantly decreased after treatment,no positive result in DAS was found in control group.The significant improvement rate the study group was 89.6% and that of control group was 53.3%(t=6.37,P0.01).After treatment,the scores of HAMD had significant difference between the two groups(t=6.37,P0.01).Conclusions Cognitive behavioral therapy was useful in improving the cognitive function of postpartum depression patients,while the efficacy of CBT on improving depression are remained to be confirmed.
