Abstract

Reactive power compensation of distribution networks can effectively reduce the power loss, improve power supply quality and reduce network operating cost. However,it is difficult to obtain the data of the planned distribution network, especially the power factor of system loads. Thus it is difficult to solve the problem of reactive power optimization in planning stage. The paper proposes to obtain a reasonable degree of reactive power compensation of the existing feeders according to planning guideline, and then to make a reactive power compensation for the planned feeders based on compensation degree.Case study indicates that the proposed method is simple and practical for estimating the reactive power compensation of planned distribution network.
