Abstract

The dry fruit of Avicennia Marina was extracted with seven different solvent dipping at normal temperature to get methanol extract, water extract,95% ethanol extract, acetone extract,n-butanol extract ethyl acetate extract and petroleum extract, then their scavenging activities of 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH)free radical, hydroxyl free radical(·OH),superoxide free radical(O-2·)were measured by the methods of DPPH,Fenton, pyrograllol auto-oxidation respectively. The results showed higher extraction rate and total flavonoids yield in water extract, methanol extract and 95% ethanol extract, and all seven extracts exhibited certain radical scavenging activities on DPPH·,·OH and O-2·.The antioxidant and radical scavenging activities of water extract,95% ethanol extract and methanol extract was higher than acetone extract,n-butanol extract and ethyl acetate extract, while weak activity in petroleum extract.
