Abstract
Euphemism is a sociolinguistic phenomenon. It shows distinctive psychological marks of the social culture. And this paper discusses euphemism from four aspects about its formation and application which are derived from various kinds of social psychological needs. Euphemism renews as the society develops. So it's beneficial to get familiar with and command it in order to enhance English level of appreciation and understand the British and American psychology and culture in communication.
