Abstract

The dynamics simulation of the crank and connecting rod mechanism in a diesel engine was carried out based on the multi-body system dynamics theory. The dynamics characteristic data, such as piston sidewall force, action force on the crank-pin and main bearing reaction force etc were obtained from the model. The convenience and advancement of the dynamics simulation of the crank and connecting rod mechanism in modern way was testified by comparison of the piston sidewall force and the action force on the crank-pin in traditional way and modern way.At the same time,a foundation was given for an optimization design of the crank and connecting rod mechanism of this type engine.
