Abstract

The decolorization and detoxification process of straw cellulose acid hydrolyzate were studied in order to utilize sufficiently cellulose and improve hydrolysate fermentability. The influence of amount of active carbon, reaction temperature, time and pH on decolorization rate of hydrolysate and the content of reducing sugar were discussed. The results showed that the optimal reaction conditions was as follows:the ratio of activated carbon to the volume of hydrolyzate was 2 ∶1,the temperature was 35 ℃,the time was 60 min and the pH was 4.0.Under these conditions, there was a maximum that the rate of decolorization was 88.11%,the loss of reducing sugar was 48.54%,and the removal rate of furfural was 74.91%,respectively.Almost all the phenolic compounds can be removed completely.
