The Rhythm of Modern Chinese Verse:A Hard Exploration between the Natural Form and the Metrical Pattern

As an internal element of poetry,rhythm has come loose since Poetic Revolution in the late Qing Dynasty.In the development of modern Chinese verse,rhythm has undergone three stages:the natural syllable proposed by early vernacular poets such as Hu Shi,et al.;the intrinsic rhythm dominated by emotion advocated by Guo Moruo;and the uniform of rhythm realized via a strict outer form-an attempt ventured by poets of the metric verse school.A probe into various rhythmic patterns on the part of modern verse is just indicative of the vigorous vitality of modern Chinese verse.
