On Kenneth Burke's Definition of Rhetoric

Abstract

Kenneth Burke's definition of rhetoric exhibits his new idea about rhetoric. This paper attempts to make an investigation of Burke's definition of rhetoric. It mainly makes the analysis from the aspect of identification, scope of rhetoric, function of rhetoric and forms of rhetoric. Based on the analysis, the paper interprets the system of rhetoric constructed by Burke.
