New Rhetoric in the West and its salient features

This article first introduces the notion of New Rhetoric in the West and then, by comparing it with traditional rhetoric, shows its salient features, which can be observed in the following aspects: the scope of rhetoric, the nature of rhetoric, the function of rhetoric, the relationship between the rhetor and the audience, and finally the attitude toward writing and its teaching.
