Clinical evaluation of using IPS-Empress ceramic veneer to close the anterior tooth space

Objective: To evaluate the 2 year clinical effect of using IPS-Empress ceramic veneer to close the anteriortooth space.Methods: Ceramic veneer was applied to 157 teeth of 37 patients.The restorative reasons included congenital tooth missing,malformation tooth,tooth defect,and the anterior tooth space caused by other reasons.The 157 teeth were evaluated before and after luting in 2 weeks and 6 to 24 months.Results: 154 ceramic veneers were intact.Little wane existed in 5 veneers at the incisal area.One veneer was partly fractured after two years.During the follow up examination,obvious inflammation was found in 3 teeth.1 tooth suffered pulpitis.2 teeth with veneers showed inconsistent colourmatch with their adjacent teeth.No secondary caries and unsatisfactory scores were recorded for marginal adaptation.Conclusion: The two year research shows that applying ceramic veneer to repair anterior teeth space has an excellentclinical performance and it can be easily accepted by patients.
