Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the 2 years clinical effect of using IPS-Empress ceramic veneer to close the anterior tooth space. Methods: Ceramic veneer was applied to 145 teeth of 31 patients. The restorative reasons included congenital tooth missing, malformation tooth, tooth defect, and the anterior tooth space caused by other reasons. The 145 teeth were evaluated before and after luting in 2 weeks and 6 to 24 months. Results: 139 ceramic veneers were intact. Little wane existed in 5 veneers at the incisal area. One veneer was partly fractured after two years. During the follow up examination, obvious inflammation was found in 3 teeth. 1 tooth suffered pulpitis. 2 teeth with veneers showed inconsistent colour match with their adjacent teeth. No secondary caries and unsatisfactory scores were recorded for marginal adaptation. Conclusion: The two years research shows that applying ceramic veneer to repair anterior teeth space has an excellent clinical performance and it can be easily accepted by patients.
