Abstract
The paper introduces the book,the Compact City, the Sustainable Development Urban Form,summarizes the advantages and the disadvantages of the compact city through describing the background and the concrete contents of the sustainable development and the compact city,points out that the compact city is not the best sustainable development urban form,but the study of the compact city guides the sustainable development of the whole society.
