Abstract
Interactive Highway Safety Design Model(IHSDM) developed by FHWA has widely used in many countries and regions for its advanced concepts and quantitative analysis ever since its appearance. In China,IHSDM has already been touched, but there are still lacks of probative application and tests. In view of present situation, this paper takes an example to introduce the method of using IHSDM and then compares the IHSDM safety evaluation report with the experiential forecast of the example highway project, and finally gets the positive conclusions.Meanwhile, this paper also points out many aspects of IHSDM to be improved for its application in China. The purpose is to improve the highway safety by the way of highway geometric design.
