Diagnosis and Treatment of Primary Pulmonary Hypertension

Objective To investigate the diagnosis and treatment of primary pulmonary hypertension(PPH) in children. Methods The clinical data of 15 patients with PPH were summed up and analysed. Results Fifteen patients all had the symptoms and signs of heart failure,the electrocardiogram exhibited right ventricular enlargement,the echocardiography demonstrated enlargement of the right atrium and ventricle and pulmonary artery enlargement, the cardiac catheterization in 14 patients showed pulmonary artery hypertension and normal pulmonary capillary wedge pressure. The prognosis of PPH was bad, the activity resistance was increased only in 3 patients after nifedipine treatment. Conclusions The symptom of PPH have not speciality, its diagnosis depends on cardiac catheterization, its treatment effect is not satisfactory,calcium channel blockers and other vasodilator are helpful in the treatment of PPH.
