Comparison of amniotic membrane graft and corneal limbal autograft with conjunctival autograft for treating recurrent pterygium

Objective To evaluate the curative effects of amniotic membrane graft and corneal limbal autograft with conjunctival autograft on patients of recurrent pterygium. Methods Forty cases(46 eyes)of recurrent pterygium were randomly divided into A and B group.In twenty cases of 22 eyes were performed pterygium resection followed by amniotic membrane graft in A group.In twenty cases of 24 eyes were performed pterygium resection followed by corneal limbal autograft with conjunctival autograft in B group. Results Nineteen eyes showed successful in A group.Three eyes were recurrent.(recurrence 13.64%).Twenty three eyes showed successful in B group.Only one eye was recurrent after 5 months(recurrence 4.17%). Conclusions Corneal limbal autograft with conjunctival autograft is more effective than amniotic membrane graft in the treatment of recurrent pterygium.
