Abstract

The stability of crude oil emulsion greatly depends on the dynamic interfacial tension properties of crude oil/brine Dynamic interfacial tensions of crude oil/brine were measured, and their dynamic interfacial tension curves were compared with those in the existence of the demulsifier It is proved that the natural surfactant molecules in crude oil diffuse and adsorb at the crude oil/brine interface Demulsifier molecules compete with the natural surfactant molecules and adsorb onto the interface To study on (1) adsorption rate of natural surfactant in crude oil and demulsifier, (2) the mechanism of breaking crude oil emulsions, and to optimize the demulsification conditions,it is necessary to measure the dynamic crude oil/brine interfacial tension
