Abstract
The esterification reaction of acetic acid and butyl alcohol using sodium bisulfate supported on activated carbon as catalyst was studied.The effects of the materials ratio,reaction time,reaction temperature and the amount of catalyst on conversion rate of acetic acid were experimentally determined.The results showed that the optimum reaction conditions obtained were that the molar ratio of acid and butanol was 1∶3,the reaction time was 140 min,the amount of catalyst was 10%( ω),the temperature was 70 ℃,and the acetic acid conversion rate was 61%.The catalyst was a non-toxic and can be separated from the reaction mixture easily,which can be used for many times.
