Analysis on Effects of Integrated Water Regulation to the Ecological Environment of the Lower Yellow River

Since integrated water regulation conducted on the Yellow River in1999 to 2004,it has achieved a remarkable success of no depletion for 5 years running and primarily achieved the situation of harmonious getting along with water,having ecological,economic and social significance.The integrated water regulation has exerted a great influence to the ecosystem of the lower river and shown on the aspects of a) basically containing the situation of frequent depletion happened in the lower river and keeping the connectivity and corridor function of river ecosystem;b) promoting the realization of water function in the lower river;c) partially rehabilitating the channel wetlands where is of important water fowl habitats,protecting and enriching the biodiversity of river ecosystem;d) promoting the ecological rehabilitation of wetlands in the Yellow River delta area and keeping the stabilization and integration of ecosystem of delta wetlands and;e) ensuring transporting certain nutritive salt into the sea during non-flood season of the Yellow River and exerting beneficial effects to the ecological environment of the delta and offshore area.
