Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the repair effect of secondary implantion of hydroxyapatite implants after evisceration of the eye. Methods:Hydroxyapatite wrapped in autologous sclera was used as secondary orbital implant in 37 patients (37 eyes)after evisceration of the eye.Results:Postoperatively,1 patient had heavy palpebral swelling and chemosis, which subsided 30 days later.3 patients had small gap of the conjunctival wound after removal of sutures. In 1 patient, the wound healed after resuturing, and in the other 2 patients, the wound healed spontaneously.1 patient had ptosis and 2 patients had slight hollow upper eyelid. All the patients were followed up for 2~24 months, and had satisfactory cosmetic effects. Conclusion:Hydroxyapatite implant may be used in secondary orbital implantation after evisceration of the eye,and obtain satisfactory cosmetic effect.
