Abstract
The emergence of universities is the necessity of the social development.During their practice the newly born universities gradually nurtured their own spirit and ideas,and the university spirit and ideas enabled the universities to possess their own characteristics.The changes of the social and economical forms promoted the universities to go from the fringe of the social development to the center of the social development.In the course of crystallizing their spirit and ideas,modern universities are forming the characteristics of modern universities on the basis of the characteristics of universities in the Middle Ages.
